Jepty Millard Hooper, Sr.

Mr. Jepty Millard Hooper, Sr., 75, of Sherwood Lane, Denver, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at East Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church in Iron Station. The Rev. Edward Reese will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born June 1, 1934 in Murphy, Mr. Hooper was the son of the late Maggie Lunsford Hooper and the Rev. Lock Millard Hooper. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Hooper retired as a self-employed air freight transporter. He was a member of East Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church and East Lincoln Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Brotherton and Mary Hall. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Dellinger of Denver and Sherry Hooper of Wilmington; a son, Jepty Hooper, Jr. of Stanley; two sisters, Louise Tate and Mildred Davis, both of Kannapolis; a brother, Larry Hooper of Denver; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
