I have not seen Jerry in years and yet I can still hear his laugh and picture that smile and even remember the sound of his voice. We were friends through high school and college. He was always so smart and funny. I remember that he always had to have eight hours of sleep every night and would leave whatever he was doing to go home to get that sleep. He was a true friend. He was a dedicated Christian from all I knew about him. He loved his family and his country. His parents were such sweet people.
So many memories flood my mind... Washington trip in the 11th grade, lots of Young Republican meetings, visiting the Moses Cone House, riding to UNCC together, church services, Gone With the Wind, graduation...
All the memories I have of Jerry are good and very dear to my heart. I can't believe he is gone. I always thought I would see him somewhere around here in Kannapolis when he came home for a visit or a ballgame or class reunion. So I know now that I will see him again in heaven where we all will be young again and in perfect health. That will be the best reunion ever! My heart hurts for the family who he loved so. You are all special people and we are all blessed to have shared a part of his life. My love and prayer to you all, especially Jeannie and Judy. Debby Duncan
