Mr. Jerry Wayne Church, 70, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at New Gilead Reformed Church Cemetery. Mr. Church was born August 23, 1950 in Cleveland, VA. He was a son of the late Clyde William Church and Nora Bell Hylton Church. Jerry shared his love of God through gospel music and visited many churches in the area operating Jerry Church Ministries. He traveled and sang with many Gospel groups throughout his life. Jerry owned and operated his own painting company, Jerry Church Custom Finishes. He was currently a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He served as Music Minister and Worship Leader in Church.
Jerry was a devout Christian first and foremost, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He will always be remembered for encouraging others by lifting their spirits with his contagious smile and joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Elizabeth Corl Church; three sisters, Margaret Church, Loretta Melton and Carol Marsh; five brothers, Lowell Church, Douglas Church, Hargus Church, Clyde Church, Jr. and Frank Church.
Jerry is survived by three daughters, Sherri Hannah (Billy), Leanna Howard (Roger) and Denise Barbee (Keith), all of Concord; step-son, Jeff Shoe of Kannapolis; step-daughter, Sonya Helms (Joe) of Kannapolis; three sisters, Shirley Sutton of Locust, Ruth Bokhoven (Arnold) of Mint Hill and Sulayne Lefler (Carl) of Concord; two brothers, Eugene Church (Linda) of Panama City, FL and Daniel Church of Johnstown, PA; ten grandchildren, Jase Shoe (Crystal) of Charlotte, Austin Smith (Daniel) of Concord, Alley & Carson Helms of Kannapolis, Elizabeth, Alexandra and Natanni Hannah, Maddy and Will Howard and Savannah Church, all of Concord. Two precious great grandchildren, Charleigh Claire Smith and Elara Smith, both of Concord. He will be greatly missed by all of these whom he cherished and provided an amazing example of how to walk closely with the Lord.
