Jerry Crawford Helms

Mr. Jerry Crawford Helms, 80, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steven Sprinkle of China Grove Church of God will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Helms was born May 11, 1936 in Cabarrus County, NC. He was a son of the late Archie J. Helms and Marie Goodnight Helms. He retired from Concord Telephone Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was Scout Master of Troop 363 in Landis. Mr. Helms was an Elder of Kannapolis Church of God and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Barry Hobbs.

Mr. Helms is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet Tutterow Helms; three children, Steven Helms and wife Dana of China Grove, Mike Helms and wife Nora of Salisbury and Joy Helms Hobbs of Concord; sister, Barbara Coe of Landis; brother, Alton Helms and wife Debbie of Lake Norman; six grandchildren, Deidra Helms, Rebecca Helms, Jacob Helms and wife Amanda, Adam Helms, Anna Hobbs Blanquicet and husband Clifford Blanquicet, Jr. and Madison Jerry Hobbs; and two great grandchildren, Cali and Mika Blanquicet.
