Jethro Lee Rumple

July 4, 1926 — April 23, 2011

Mr. Jethro Lee Rumple, 84, better known as "Jay" or "J. Lee", passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, April 29, 2011, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Rev. Jay Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home. He was born a son of the late Walter Gibson Rumple and Ila Overcash Rumple on July 4, 1926 in Cabarrus County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alva Louise Pressley Rumple and two sisters. Jay was a lifetime member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He also served two years in the Army during World War II. After the Army, Jay went to work for the Dept of Transportation working until he retired in 1986. Mr. Rumple is survived by his son, Gregory L. Rumple and wife, Nancy of Kannapolis; his brother, Walter Gibson Rumple, II of Kannapolis; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
