Jimmy A. Chambers

Jimmy A. Chambers, Jr. (May 29, 1955 - August 20, 2008) oldest of three beloved sons of Jim and Barbara Chambers of Cornelius, NC, loved by brothers Brad and Andy of Cornelius, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 20, 2008. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis where he was born and grew up. He furthered his education at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. As a young child he was christened at St. John's United Church of Christ where he was active in the youth programs until he left Kannapolis for college. He attained Eagle Scout along with his Dad and brothers in Kannapolis. At ASU he was active in student government and served on the Committee to Save the New River. He was invited by and flew to Washington, DC with the Governor of North Carolina to witness the signing of the New River bill by President Gerald Ford. He lived in the Boone and Blowing Rock area after college for many years where he owned and operated several businesses. He most recently lived in Charlotte. Jimmy was predeceased by his grandparents, Leonard and Rosetta Keever, Frank and Janie Chambers, and by uncles John Chambers and Ronald Keever. He is survived by a large family of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. At his request, his body will be cremated and his ashes scattered along with his parents upon their death in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. A place he loved so much. A lifetime friend, Mr. Larry Efird, will lead a celebration of Jimmy's life on Sunday, August 24 at 2 p.m. in the Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family offers a special thanks to all of his many loving friends who enhanced the size of his world and made his life so special.
