Joanne Blanton

Mrs. Joanne “JoJo” Brooks Blanton, 81, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Carolinas Healthcare System - NorthEast in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dave Whitesides will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Sunday at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blanton was born February 8, 1934 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Edward E. Brooks and Bonnie Childers Brooks. She worked as a secretary at Barclay’s American, which later became CIT in Charlotte. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jennings Blanton.

Mrs. Blanton is survived by two daughters, Donna Francis and husband Jeff of Kannapolis and April Hyde of Concord; two brothers, Odell Brooks and wife Evelyn of Troutman and Olin Brooks and wife Mary of Rockwell; sister, Dottie Whitesides and husband Dave of Bristol, TN; four grandchildren, Heather Krause and husband Andy, Bonnie Long and husband Dan, Brooke Stephens and husband James, and Emily Lewis; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee Krause, Drew Krause, Cora Long, Abby Long, Dakota Stephens, Wesley Stephens, Kendall Stephens and Mallory Stephens.
