Joe Frank Griggs

Joe Frank Griggs, Jr., 70, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:30 pm Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Concord First Assembly Village, Suite 15. Rev. Brad Hargett will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 pm Sunday at Concord First Assembly Village, Suite 15.

Mr. Griggs was born March 18, 1945 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Joe Frank Griggs, Sr. and Margaret Estelle Warner Griggs. He worked for City of Concord as a heavy equipment operator after 30 years of service. He was a member of Concord First Assembly. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening, and loved Ford Mustangs.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by his son, Mike Griggs and brother, Thomas Griggs.

Mr. Griggs is survived by his wife, Sylvia Kobulnicky Griggs; a son, Tim Griggs and wife, Vicky, of Concord; 2 brothers, Jim Griggs and wife, Anne, of Concord, and Robert Griggs and wife, Karen, of FL; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Owens, Zachary Owens, Jessie Pearson, and Amanda Kiker; 4 great grandchildren, Ally Pearson, Trenton Pearson, Landen Kiker, and Payten Kiker; a special niece, Mackenzie Griggs; and a special cousin, Larry Griggs and his family.
