John Anderson Besig

Mr. John Anderson Besig, 81, of 211 Carwen Court, Kannapolis, died Monday, August 26, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, August 29, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Park. Dr. Joseph Crawford will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mr. Besig was born February 23, 1921 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Cananda. He was a son of the late George Besig and Johnanna McDermit Besig. He was retired from Crucible Steel in Syracuse, NY. He was a past member of the Elks Club and United Steel Workers (USW). He lived most of his life in Syracuse, NY. He was a verteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Hard Besig, on August 13, 2000. Mr. Besig is survived by a daughter, Sandra Besig Fleegel, and her husband, Robert, of Kannapolis; son, John A. Besig, Jr. of Kannapolis; sister, Elizabeth Kemp of Atlanta, GA; and one grandchild, Andrea Fleegel of Kannapolis.
