John Howard Craig Sr.

Mr. John Howard Craig, Sr., 65, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Carolinas HealthCare System-NorthEast in Concord.

A memorial service is scheduled for 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Snow will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Craig was born October 15, 1952 in Danville, VA. He was a son of the late Dewey Craig and Margaret Castle Neal.

Mr. Craig retired from Duke Energy in 2015 after 42 years of service as a draftsman in the real estate department.

Mr. Craig’s hobbies included, shooting pool, NASCAR (fan of Dale Jr.), Carolina Tarheel basketball and time with family. He was a kind man with a heart of gold. Most people referred to him as “Big John’ or ‘gentle giant’.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Craig was preceded in death by his Wife, Sherry Kay Craig; Brother, George Craig; Sister, Becke McIntosh; Step-father, Roy Neal.

Mr. Craig is survived by Three Daughters, Sharon Thomas and husband Tom of Concord, Teresa Dietz and husband Ronnie of Hickory and Kisha Beard and husband Kirk of Kannapolis; Two Sons, John Howard Craig, Jr. and wife, Heather of Tennessee and Jeffrey Craig and wife Carla of Concord; Two Brothers, Ronnie Craig & wife Mauldine and Bill Craig and wife Jeannie; grandchildren, Amanda Coubal and husband Chris, Shane Buchanan and wife Lisa, Amber Clark and husband Rick, Kasey Buchanan and partner Michael Golby, Kaylee Beard, John Craig, III, Will Craig and Ansleigh Craig, Great grandchildren: Katelyn Coubal, Haylee Buchanan, Krysten Coubal, Kristopher Coubal, Savannah Buchanan, Madison Clark, Colton Clark and Ronan Golby.
