Mr. John Carson Griffin, 85, formerly of Rockwell passed away peacefully Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Carolina Rehab of Burke in Connelly Springs.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:45 pm Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Lady's Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Mike Roper will officiate.
Burial will be 1:00 pm Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
Mr. Griffin was born September 8, 1935 in Union County, NC. He was a son of the late John Bridger Griffin and Gladys Mills Griffin. He retired from Cannon Mills Plant One where he was a fixer. He was the inventor of the thread cutter for sewing machines and sold the rights to the SINGER sewing machine company in New York.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Jean Griffin; and three brothers, Donald Griffin, Ervin Griffin and his twin, Carl Griffin.
Mr. Griffin is survived by two daughters, Wanda Griffin Smith and husband Randy of Connelly Springs and Cynthia Griffin of Mooresville; sister, Margie Griffin Horton of Landis; two grandchildren, Chrissy Robinson and Rance Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
