John Michael Hawkins

John Michael "Mike" Hawkins, 61, of 608 E. 24th Street, Kannapolis, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. Mike was born September 6, 1945 in Laporte, IN. He was a son of Ruby Jeanette Huff Hawkins and the late Earl Franklin Hawkins. Mike served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-1969. Although born and raised in Indiana, Mike became a resident of NC in 1991. He was self-employed and was well respected in the trucking industry. It was within his career Mike was able to touch the lives of so many people. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jenny Shen Hawkins; daughter, Debra Sutcliffe of Mooresville; two sons, Brian Hawkins of Kannapolis and Brad Hawkins of Landis; two brothers, Ed Hawkins of Chehalis, WA and David Hawkins of Thorntown, IN; grandson, Andrew Hawkins and step-son, Sam Hsieh. Mike will be solely remembered for his humor and as a person who truly cares for the people around him. Mike was blessed with the spirit and the gift of giving.
