Mr. John Henderson "Tom" Mahaley, 90, died Thursday, November 22, 2007, at the W. G. (Bill) Hefner Medical Center in Salisbury. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. James Strickland will officiate. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Mahaley, 607 West Ridge Avenue, Landis. Born November 11, 1917 in Rowan County, Mr. Mahaley was the son of the late William and Tivey Leona Mahaley. He was the former owner and operator of Tom's Texaco Service in Landis. He was a charter member of the Landis Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Mahaley served in Panama with the US Army Calvary. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Nance Mahaley; son, Mike Mahaley and wife, Judy, of Landis; daughter, Beverly Williamson of Landis; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
