John was born January 3, 1952 in Concord. He was a son of the late Ola Lucille Harris Morris and the late Wayland Franklin Morris, Sr. He lived the majority of his life in Concord and moved to Charlotte 20 years ago to be near 2 of his sisters. He graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School 1971, Concord, NC. John’s life career was as a residential painter starting in the private sector and then working for The University of North Carolina Charlotte in the maintenance department from where he retired.
Being Uncle Johnny was the greatest love and joy of his life. He loved his nieces and nephews dearly and spoiled them with trips to the toy store and “K-Mart.” He proudly displayed photos of him with them on the work bulletin board and pulled out his phone to share pictures with any captive audience, bragging as a very proud Uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Martin Morris; a sister, Mary Juanita Morris Hoffman; and nephew, Samuel McWilliams.
John is survived by a sister Carolyn Morris Hargett Barrier, brother Donald Morris, brother Wayland "Frank" Morris II (Kay), sister Imeldia Morris Eller, sister Sharron Morris Malicki (Rick) and sister Susan Orsini (Tony).
His many beloved nieces and nephews include Steve Morris, Donna Morris, Stacey Hoffman, Robby (Melissa) Stephens, Kenny Stephens, Jamie (Todd) McWilliams, Holly McWilliams, Joe (Rachel) McWilliams, Sam McWilliams, Janine Hoffman Draffin, Liesl (Brandon) Sines, Silas Sines, Micah Noah, Daniel Draffin, Mary Draffin (Hurtle), Max (Jo Ellen) Hargett, Jerry (Glenda) Hargett, Ginger Hargett Osborne Michelle (Rusty) Morris Pederson, Taylor Pederson (Sam) Giacobbe, MacKenzie Pederson, Trent (Andrea) Morris, Sophia Morris, Amelia Morris, Wayland (Lanny, Megan) Morris III, Wayland Morris IV, Mary Rose Morris, Chris (Jill) Eller, Catie Mae Eller, Owen Watson, Grayson Watson, Kathleen (Liam) Collins, Leo Collins, Tyler Ratchford, Don (Wren) Orsini, Owen Orsini, Claire Orsini, Harris Orsini, David (Leslie) Orsini, Jude Orsini, Collette Orsini, and Carmela Orsini.
