John Baxter Sims

Mr. John Baxter Sims, 73, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017.

A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Mount Moriah Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Joseph Tallent will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 5:45 pm Wednesday at Mount Moriah Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mr. Sims was born October 12, 1943 in Concord. He was a son of the late John Dudley Sims and Bertha Cook Sims Shive. He was a very active member and former Chief at Enochville Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-father, Glenn B. Shive.

Mr. Sims is survived by his wife, Barbara Garver Sims; two daughters, LuAnn Sims Barnes and husband Alvin of China Grove and Patti Sims Walker of Concord; and five grandchildren, Meredith Barnes, Holly Barnes, Dalton Barnes, Zach Walker and Elijah Walker.
