Johnsie Moore Braswell

Mrs. Johnsie Moore Braswell, 96, of 318 Dakota Street, Kannapolis, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Roger Byrd, pastor of First Advent Christian Church and Rev. William Coughlin, pastor of Landis First Assembly will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a daughter, Rebecca B. Thigpen, 5395 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC. Born May 29, 1906 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late George Herbert Moore and the late Cora Gragg Moore. She was educated in the Caldwell County schools and at Appalachian State Teachers College, now Appalachian State University. Mrs. Braswell taught school in Caldwell and Catawba Counties for many years. In 1950 she assisted her husband, R. S. Braswell, in the organization and operation of R. S. Braswell Company, a forklift and Bobcat dealership. She was a member of First Advent Christian Church in Concord. She was a member of the Mission Circle which was named for her. Her husband, Roy Shuler Braswell, preceded her in death on September 2, 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca B. Thigpen and her husband, Alton, of Kannapolis; one sister, Annie Harter of Garner; three grandchildren, David Thigpen and Steve Thigpen of Kannapolis and Jennifer Thigpen of Asheboro; four great-grandchildren, Garrett, Kirby, Katie and Alexis Thigpen of Kannapolis; and many nieces and nephews.
