Mrs. Johnsie Sellers Freeman, 75, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019, at her home in Kannapolis.
A celebration service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Roger Steadman will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 am Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Freeman was born February 18, 1944 in Kannapolis. She was a daughter of the late Dewey Sellers and Connie Horne Sellers. She received two Bachelor's Degrees from Mars Hill University in Library Science and Religion and received her Master's Degree from Appalachian State University in Library Science. She was a retired school librarian having been employed by Rockingham County Schools, Cabarrus County Schools and Rowan Salisbury School Systems.
She served as organist at Victory Baptist Church and Lane Street Baptist Church. She was a member of the LunchPlus Center, enjoying many of the available activities. Her hobbies included Bible Studies, reading, music, crafts, boating, fishing, traveling, line dancing, yoga, aerobics and zumba. She loved her nephews and nieces dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 39 years in 2010, Micky Wayne Freeman; and her daughter, Stacy Teale Freeman.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by sister, Opal Abernathy and husband James; sister-in-law, Marilyn Mearing and husband Herb; three nephews, Mark, James and Wesley Abernathy; three great nephews and nine great nieces.
