Johnsie Winecoff Nelms

Mrs. Johnsie Winecoff Nelms, 88, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Brookshire will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Nelms was born September 28, 1921 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Gip Henderson Winecoff and Vera Alice Goodnight Winecoff. She was a charter member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Kannapolis, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years. Mrs. Nelms, in addition to her parents, is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Nelms, in December 2003. Mrs. Nelms is survived by her son, Kenneth Nelms and wife, Mary of Kannapolis; daughter, Sandra Gaskey and husband, Steve of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Stephanie Rudolph of Emerald Isle, NC, Jessica Sharpe of Kerneersville, Chad Nelms of Kannapolis and Jason Nelms and wife, Allison of Kannapolis; two great grandchildren, Grayson Rudolph and Will Sharpe.
