Obituary

In loving memory, we announce the peaceful passing of Jonell Allen, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on May 1, 2026, at the age of 76. Jonell passed away gently at the Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by love and care, concluding a life that was richly lived and deeply devoted to those she held dear.

Jonell was born on June 20, 1949, in the picturesque city of San Bernardino, California, to her adoring parents, Louis and Mary Jane Boyd. From her early years, Jonell exhibited a nurturing spirit and an unwavering commitment to service, which would become the cornerstones of her life.

In 1971, Jonell answered the call to serve her country, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. She proudly served as a Sergeant, stationed in Okinawa until 1973. Her time in the military was a testament to her strength, resilience, and dedication to duty.

Following her honorable discharge, Jonell pursued a career in nursing, applying her compassionate nature and skilled hands to care for those in need. As a Registered Nurse, she worked tirelessly until 1993, when she transitioned to support the family business, dedicating her formidable talents to its success.

On August 23, 1991, Jonell married the love of her life, Christopher Allen. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories until Christopher's passing. Their union was blessed with a son, Jonathan Allen, who, along with his wife Diane, brought immense joy to Jonell's life.

Jonell's legacy lives on through her beloved family-her son Jonathan and daughter-in-law Diane, and her treasured grandchildren: Rebekah Rhoades, Rachel Allen, Renee Knickrehm, Rose Allen, Roxanne Allen, and Ramona Allen. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Jasper Clary, Christopher Rhodes, and Jackson Rhodes. Each of them carries forward Jonell's spirit of kindness and strength.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Tucker Hospice House for their exceptional care and compassion during Jonell's final days. For those wishing to honor her memory, donations can be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, an organization that brought comfort and solace to Jonell and her family during this difficult time. Donations can be made online or by mail 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

A celebration of Jonell's life will be held on what would have been her 77th birthday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a wonderful woman who touched so many lives with her warmth and generosity.

Jonell Allen's life was a testament to the virtues of love, service, and family. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her, and her presence will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered.
