Joseph Thomas Brown

Dr. Joseph "Joe" Thomas Brown, 90, of 1005 Dakota Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at the Loris Community Hospital in Loris, SC after four years of declining health and five days of serious illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, January 11, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Pittman will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. Dr. Brown was born February 6, 1912 in Dothan, AL. He was a son of the late Fred Isaac Brown and Dorothy M. Brown. He was an optometrist in Kannapolis for many years. He was a member of Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church. During World War II, he was a radio operator with the merchant marines. Dr. Brown is survived by his wife Ruby Sills Brown; step-son, James Alex Mason of Myrtle Beach, SC; and step-daughter, Brenda M. Westerman of Redwood City, CA.
