Joseph Wayne King

Mr. Joseph Wayne King, 68, of Zoo Parkway, died Wednesday January 16, 2008 at Randolph Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. King will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Community Fellowship in Ramseur. Pastor Kenneth H. Huggins and Pastor Arnold Comer will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethel Christian Church Cemetery in Burlington. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. King was born February 28, 1939 in Caswell County, a son of the late Joseph H. King and Eva Walker King. He worked at Strider Buick in Asheboro and formerly with Yadkin Valley Chevrolet in Denton. In the past, he had also been associated with NASCAR and had owned and operated a number of businesses in High Point, Archdale and Trinity. A member of the Grace Community Fellowship, he also served in the National Guard, and was a Mason and Shriner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom King and Lewis King. Survivors include his wife, Donna Young King; two sons, Joseph Harold King of Trinity and Chris King and wife, Jane, of Boynton Beach, FL; a daughter, Cheryl Jones and husband, Marty, of East Bend, and their mother, Sylvia King of Trinity. There are also three step-children, Brian Lanier of Denton, Kristen Lanier of Danville, VA and Keitha Johnson and husband, Derrick, of Clayton. Grandchildren include, Ryan King and Allie King with three step-grandchildren, Andrew Johnson, Morgan Johnson, and Meagan Johnson. He is also survived by four sisters, Mammie Sue Simmons and husband, Junior, Louise Madkins and Mary Alice Madden, all of Caswell, and Rachel Pope and her husband, Harry, of Burlington.
