Joyce Clontz Russell

Mrs. Joyce Clontz Russell, 89, formerly of Evelyn Avenue, Kannapolis, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Grigg will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Born May 13, 1919 in Union County, Mrs. Russell was the daughter of the late Baxter Clontz and Ollie Jane Helms Clontz. She retired several years ago from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, Horace C. Russell, who died February 8, 2002. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Russell Earle and husband Dean, of China Grove; a son, H. Douglas Russell and wife Patricia, of Kannapolis; three sisters, Edith Austin of Concord, Chattie Wilson of Kannapolis, Jerry Hasty of Monroe; a brother, Bridger Clontz of Monroe; three grandchildren, Steve Russell and wife Tonia, Karen Hester and husband Scott, and Lisa Miller; and six great-grandchildren.
