Mrs. Judith “Judy” Eleanor Faust Goodnight, 78, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at her residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:30 pm Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Darryl Evans and her son, Mr. Dana Goodnight will officiate. A private burial is scheduled for a later date at Salisbury National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:15 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.

She was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Salisbury, Rowan County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Edith Floda McClamrock Faust and Robert Ervin Faust, Sr., of Kannapolis. Mrs. Goodnight lived her entire life in Kannapolis. She was educated at Aycock, Cannon, and A.L. Brown High School, where she graduated in 1957. She graduated from Mars Hill Junior College in 1959.

On June 25, 1960, she married Dwight Franklin Goodnight at the First Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis, where they met and were lifelong members. She was active in various ministries of the church.

In earlier years, she did office work and was employed at Security Bank and Trust, in the Engineering Department of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph in Charlotte, the Tabulating Department at Cannon Mills, R.R. Roberts and Son Insurance, and Carver and the Central Office of Kannapolis City Schools.

Her interests included membership in the Cabarrus Art Guild, PAC, DAR, UDC, Faith and the Arts, and book clubs. She participated in various civic drives and worked at the election polls.

In addition to her husband, Dwight F. Goodnight, she is survived by three sons, Dwight Tod of the home, Paris Thad and wife Nancy of Salisbury, and Dana Jon and wife Carol of Hillsborough; daughter, Desiree Starla Goodnight of Charlotte; six grandchildren: Caleb Miles and wife Hannah (and their son, Judy’s great-grandson, Jack), Kenan Jon, and Micah Lee of Hillsborough, and Davis W., Sarah Noelle, and Robert Franklin of Salisbury.
