Mrs. Julia Fortner Hooks Bailey, 90, of 1007 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, and formerly of Kannapolis, died Friday, February 1, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 5, 2008, in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ralph Robinette will officiate. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. She was born in Taylorsville on January 11, 1918, a daughter of the late, Frank Fortner and Loney Wike Fortner. Mrs. Bailey retired from Cannon Mills and worked as a residential nursing assistant until 2005. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Clarance H. Hooks and Lacey C. Bailey, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Fraley of Asheboro and Linda Gulledge of Charlotte; one sister, Pauline McColor of Lexington; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
