Katherine Lefler Ohmes

Katherine Lefler Ohmes, died peacefully Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House. She had bravely battled cancer for over three years. She was born September 30, 1938 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late John H. Rogers and Ruby Perkins Rogers. An active member of Centerview Baptist Church, she organized "The ARC" for the disabled and was the director for quite some time. She spent many years of her life caring for the elderly as well as the disabled. She also had a great passion for animals. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Ohmes; a sister, Ethel Sechler; three children; two stepchildren; three grandchildren and three step grandchildren. Services will be held at Centerview Baptist Church on Friday, June 24, 2011, at noon. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will also be receiving guests at 542 Eastway Avenue, Kannapolis, the home of her sister. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The Humane Society of Cabarrus County , PO Box 5347, Concord, NC 28027 or the American Cancer Society , 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
