Katherine T. Payne

Ms. Katherine Thornburg Payne, 84, of 203 Prince Street, Kannapolis, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis. Dr. Joe Crawford will officiate. Interment will follow at Kannapolis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. At other times they will be at the residence. Born March 28, 1919, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late W. A. Thornburg and the late Mattie Demarcus Thornburg. She was a licensed practical nurse and retired in 1984 from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, now NorthEast Medical Center. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie Mae Phyfe and Mazel B. Kay; and a brother, Jim Thornburg. Survivors include a sister, Helen Seabolt of Madison, Georgia; a niece, Doris Genney of Fairfax, Virginia; two nephews, Leroy Kay and his wife, Alice, of Vass, NC and Larry Seabolt and his wife, Carol, of Madison, Georgia.
