Kathleen Booe Steele, 81, of 213 W. 22nd Street, a loving mother and grandmother, who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Terry Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective homes. Born March 27, 1924, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Booe and Carrie Hayes Booe. She retired from the sheet department of Cannon Mills, Plant One, and later worked for Hardee's in Kannapolis. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Homestead Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Savilla Lawing James, who died November 16, 2003. Survivors include two grandchildren, Dirk James and fianc , Lisa Hyde Caldwell, of Kannapolis and Terri Eldreth and husband, Tommy, of Salisbury; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Crayton and fianc , Amber Hoyle, of Salisbury and Matthew James of Kannapolis; three great-great-granddaughters, Kalista Hoyle, Kaira Crayton and Adrianna Crayton, all of Salisbury; one step-great-grandson, Travis Shuping of Miami, FL; and one step-great-great-grandson, Traver Shuping of Miami, FL.
