Mrs. Kathy Jean Watson Funderburk, 56, of 1410 Old Beatty Ford Rd., China Grove, died Thursday, December 26, 2002, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2002, at Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. At other times they will be at the residence. Born January 7, 1946, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Lester Claude Watson and the late Lessie Jean Hartsoe Watson. Mrs. Funderburk formerly worked in the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis. She later earned a medical secretary degree from Salisbury Business College and worked for Dr. Palmer in Salisbury. She was also a substitute teacher with the Rowan County and Cabarrus County School Systems. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Myron T. Funderburk; one daughter, Theresa Funderburk of Kannapolis; two sons, Eddie Funderburk of Kannapolis and Andrew Funderburk of the home; three sisters, Edith Arthur of Denver, Jerline Bender of Lexington, Alice Shepherd of Charlotte; two brothers, Howard Stuart of Kannapolis and Harold Watson of Concord; one granddaughter, Lydia Funderburk. Memorials may be sent to Central Baptist Church, 1810 Moose Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
