Katie Smith Braswell

Mrs. Katie Smith Braswell, 85, of Clay Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Born March 19, 1922 in Union County, Mrs. Braswell was the daughter of the late William Henry Smith and Beadie Mullis Smith. She retired several years ago from the packaging room of Cannon Mills, Plant No. 1 in Kannapolis. She was an active member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Braswell was preceded in death by her husband, Myron J. Braswell, who died April 4, 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Myra Armstrong of Kannapolis; son, Carlton L. Braswell of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Andrew Armstrong, Heidi Beck, Joseph Beck and Katie Shellack; and two great-grandchildren, Harmony McClellan and Gracie Shellack.
