Kay Mattox Knece

Mrs. Kay Mattox Knece, 61, of 1464 Circle Drive, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Sexton will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:30 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at her residence. Mrs. Knece was born December 15, 1947 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of late Herbert Mattox and Lois Snow Mecimore. She was employed by Parkdale Mills for 32 years. She was a member of the High Rock River Rats and formerly a member of the PSA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Knece, Jr. and her son, Det. Rick Davis. Mrs. Knece is survived by three daughters, Caren D. Bates of Kannapolis, Crystal D. Atwell of China Grove and Toni M. Lewis of China Grove; sister, Jackie Mueller and husband Terry; brother, Butch Mattox and wife Carla; ten grandchildren, Brittnay and Kayla Davis, Kalei B. Hill, Kegan Bates, Carrie Harley, Liston Atwell, Felicia Bowen, Tyler Gosa, Dalton and Taylor Lewis; four great grandchildren, Skylar and Madison Bowen, Emma Goodman and Addison Atwell; two nieces; special friend, Jeep Swaim and best friend, Becky Turner. Memorials may be sent to George A. Batte Cancer Center at CMC-NorthEast, 100 Medical Park Drive, Suite 110, Concord, NC 28025.
