Kaye Bonds Deese Overcash, 87, beloved mother, devoted family member, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville after a period of declining health. Born on September 29, 1938, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, Kaye lived a life rich in love, service, and adventure that touched many hearts.
She was the daughter of the late Benny Bonds and Alice Ervin, whose guidance and support shaped the compassionate, warm individual she became. Kaye’s commitment to her education was steadfast, a foundation that would serve her throughout her life and career.
Kaye dedicated much of her professional life to the travel industry, finding purpose and friendship in her work. For 23 years, she was a valued team member at Eastern Airlines in Charlotte, where her spirit of teamwork and dedication shone brightly. She later continued her career with AAA for 12 years, creating lasting relationships and helping countless travelers pursue their own adventures. Her professional journey reflected her personal passion: Kaye loved traveling to many parts of the world, collecting memories and experiences she would later share with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Kaye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Overcash; two step-children, Gale Overcash and Debra Overcash; sister, Margie Belk; and a daughter-in-law, Jan Deese. Their memory, along with the legacy she leaves behind, remains eternal within the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Above all, Kaye’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply and with unwavering devotion. She spent treasured hours with them, forging unbreakable bonds and making lasting memories. She is survived by six loving children, David Deese of Kannapolis, Karey Lambert (Mark) of Concord, Susan Morrison (Alex) of Davidson, James Robert Deese of Mooresville, Kingsley Deese (Mary Baskins) of Rock Hill and John E. Deese of Kannapolis; step-son, Curtis Overcash (Darren Borrilez) of Charlotte; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Faith was a cornerstone of Kaye’s life. As a dedicated charter member of Providence Baptist Church-Harrisburg, she found community, comfort, and purpose. The church was her spiritual home, and she cherished her involvement there especially being active in the Senior Ministry. Family, travel, faith, and kindness were guiding lights in Kaye’s journey. Those who were privileged to know her will remember her love, the time she selflessly gave to others, and the way she made each person feel valued and special.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm at Providence Baptist Church on Saturday, August 8, 2026. A memorial service to honor Kaye's remarkable life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Providence Baptist Church, Harrisburg. Pastor Mike Smith will officiate.
Kaye’s enduring spirit of love, devotion, and adventure will continue to inspire all who were blessed to share in her journey. She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Providence Baptist Church - Harrisburg, 5315 State Highway 49, Harrisburg, NC 28075 or to VIA Health Partners, 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226.
