Kenneth Dean Christy

Kenneth Dean Christy, 79, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014, at Tucker Hospice House.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Carolina Memorial Park. Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge will officiate.

Friends may visit at Lady’s Funeral Home between 9 to 12:00 pm Thursday prior to the service.

Mr. Christy was born on October 15, 1934 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Charlie Christy and Nettie Donahue Christy. From the age of two years old, he was raised by his late aunt and uncle, Hattie Christy Whitley and Raymond Roosevelt Whitley. He retired as a supervisor of the distribution center of Cannon Mills. He was a member of the Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge, No. 626 A.F. and A.M. He received his 50 year Masonic pin.

In addition to his parents, uncle and aunt, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dee Roberson Christy; two children, Dee Christy Shuping and Randy Dean Christy; and grandson, Timmy Smith.

Mr. Christy is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Dale Christy McDade of Raleigh; two sons, Eric Dennis Christy and wife, Tamesha, of Sherrills Ford and Steven Douglas Christy and wife, Loletta, of China Grove; daughter-in-law, Karen Fisher Christy of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Adam Christy, Evan Christy and Carmen Christy Russell all of Kannapolis, Kenneth Christy and Steven Christy of China Grove, Erica Christy Spade of Sherrills Ford and Mallory McDade of Raleigh; and five great grandchildren.
