Kenneth O'Neil Simpson, 70, of Elm Street, Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast. Funeral services for Mr. Simpson will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Joel Ervin and the Rev. Max Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lady's Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Simpson was born on September 20, 1937 in Union County, a son of the late Bainer Simpson and Louise Helms Simpson. He was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church. He retired from Pillowtex after 56 years of employment and also was a paper carrier for the Independent-Tribune. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 37 years, Glenda Simpson, better known as "Boo Boo"; two brothers, Charlie Simpson and Bill Simpson; and a grandson, Timothy Lippard. Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Ayers of Mebane; and his granddaughter, Madison Ayers, known as his "Angel". He also has other children by a previous marriage, Melissa Sisk of Tennessee, Donna Lippard of Troutman, and Chip Simpson of Olin; three sisters, Helen Simpson, Margaret Blackwelder and husband Dennis, Gaynelle Crainshaw and husband Randy, one brother, Robert Simpson and wife Sandra, all of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
