Mr. Kermit Glenn Parks, 80, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at CHS-NorthEast in Concord.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Rev. Timothy Whittington will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Parks was born December 27, 1936 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Homer Glenn Parks and Eula Frances Freeze Parks. He retired after 30 years of service from Siemens, formerly Westinghouse, where he was a machinist. He was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed camping in the mountains and also loved fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Watts Parks; a son, Douglas Glenn Parks; and five brothers, Bennett Parks, Raymond Parks, Harold Parks, Arnold Parks and Hugh Parks.
Mr. Parks is survived by his wife, Katrina “Tina” Cartner Parks; daughter, Hulene Parks Compton and husband Kelly of Concord; son, David Wayne Parks of Kannapolis; five grandchildren, Jeff Parks and wife Dani, Kaycee Compton, Michael Parks, Brian Compton and wife Patience and Amy Cain and husband Reggie; and five great grandchildren, Ryder Parks, Taylor Parks, Bennett Compton, Matthew Cain and Mason Cain.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
