Lanion Merman Crook

Mr. Lanion Merman Crook, 80, of 400 Eddleman Road, Kannapolis, died Friday, October 25, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard A. Rhoades and the Rev. Hoke Ritchie will officiate. Entombment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Carolina Memorial Park with military rites conducted by DAV Chapter 27 of Concord. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. At other times, they will be at the residence. Born September 25, 1922, in Danielsville, GA, he was a son of the late William Howard Crook and the late Willie Crowe Crook. Mr. Crook was the owner and operator of Crook's Lock Shop. He previously was employed for 20 years with Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, now NorthEast Medical Center. Mr. Crook was a locksmith for 35 years. He was a member of the American Association of Locksmiths and Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the American Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Sechler Crook, who died July 2, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Eddie D. Crook and his wife, Alice, of Knoxville, TN and Randy M. Crook and his wife, Teresa, of Charlotte; one sister, Robbie Brown of China Grove; and five grandchildren, Nichole Crook, Sam Crook and Christopher Crook, all of Charlotte, Andy Crook and Sarah Crook, both of Knoxville, TN.
