Larry Hugh Hamby

Mr. Larry Hugh Hamby, 67, left his residence on Thursday, February 17, 2005, to be with his Father in heaven. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. The Rev. Billy Honeycutt will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective homes. Born January 24, 1938, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Orville Hamby and Edna Mae Moss Jones. He retired as a sheet metal mechanic with Hudson Sheet Metal Company, a contractor for Philip Morris in Concord. He attended Landis Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alicia Marie Sullivan. Survivors include his companion, June L. Sides of Concord; a daughter, Lari Denise Messina and her husband Chris of Kannapolis; four sons, Billy Olson of Newton, Darron Hugh Hamby and Barry Rann Hamby, both of Kannapolis and Benji Bo Hamby and his wife Candyce of Landis; seven grandchildren, Jason, Dustin and Kristen Sullivan, Jessica Messina, Elizabeth Hamby, and Julianna and Alexandria Hamby; and a half-brother, Darren Hamby of Dobson.
