Laval Lambert Robinson passed away peacefully at her home in Salisbury on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was 98. The former Laval Frances Lambert was born October 17, 1925, in Rowan County, to Jesse Palmer (J.P.) Lambert and Vannie Link Lambert. Young Miss Lambert graduated from J.W. Cannon High School, with the class of 1944, where she participated in student government, art, and other activities. She also graduated from Hollingsworth Business School in Charlotte.
Laval worked briefly at the state capital in Raleigh before joining the war effort working at the secretive new government facility in Oak Ridge, TN. This installation processed the Uranium to make THE LITTLE BOY bomb as part of the Manhattan Project.
While visiting the National Guard Armory in Concord, Laval met a Paratrooper from the 101st Airborne Division named Bill Robinson. The two were married from 1945 until his death in 1994. After the war they moved to Indianapolis, where Bill attended Lincoln School of Chiropractic under the G.I. Bill.
Dr. & Mrs. William J. Robinson settled back in Kannapolis, starting Robinson Chiropractic Clinic, and raising six children: William Joseph Robinson II of Charlotte and Joseph A. Robinson of Kannapolis, both deceased. The four surviving children are: David M. Robinson of Salisbury, Frances Burgess (husband Dr. B. She is also preceded in death by two of her great grandchildren: Katherine Paige Morris and Taylor Galloway, as well as her 3 siblings: Shirley Lambert and Geraldine Hudson both of Kannapolis, and Maxine Mintz of Iron Station.
The Robinsons were founding members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kannapolis, where they remained faithful members.
Mrs. Robinson was a gifted artist, especially in water colors, and produced many beautiful works of art. She had a natural flair for decorating and gardening. She was also an avid and excellent cook and entertainer. Laval will be dearly missed.
