L.D. Gray, Jr.

September 5, 1928 — April 9, 2018

Mr. L. D. Gray, Jr., 89, of Kannapolis, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Friday, April 13, 2018, at the First Reformed Church, Landis, NC. Rev. David Franks will officiate. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the church on Friday prior to the service.

L.D. was born September 5, 1928 in Gaston County, NC to the late Rev. Lloyd D. Gray and the late Maxie Bullock Gray.

He was a graduate of J.W. Cannon High School in Kannapolis and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Upon his return home he went to work for Cannon Mills where he was employed for 39 years, having retired in 1990. He served as Past President and Board Member of the South Rowan Bible Teaching Association and was an active member and usher at First Reformed Church in Landis, He was also Past Master of the Eureka Masonic Lodge 283 in China Grove, NC.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Katheryn Roberts Gray; a brother, Harold Gray and a step-son, Monty Freeman.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of 14 years, Priscilla (Pat) Gray; three children of L.D. and Katheryn: Patsy Gray Riggs of Calabash, NC; Tony Gray and wife Shirley of Matthews, NC; W. Scott Gray and wife Shirlene of Indian Trail, NC; Children of L.D. and Pat: Gregory Belk and wife Karen of Badin, NC; Tamara Rolla and husband Keith of Landis, NC; Derek Baucom; Jeffrey Baucom and wife Cindy; and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Freeman, all of Kannapolis, NC; two brothers: Dan L. Gray of Concord, NC, Earl L. Gray of Kannapolis and a sister, Jo Corriher of Mt. Ulla, NC; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
