Lea Ann Collins Buckwell

Mrs. Lea Ann Collins Buckwell, 64, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her home in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Don Safrit and Rev. John Kahl will officiate. Interment will follow at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord.

The family will receive friends from 1:45 to 3:45 pm Saturday at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Buckwell was born August 15, 1961. She was the daughter of the late John P. Collins, Jr. and Faye Nell Smith Collins. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. Lea Ann was also active in Via de Christo. She graduated from A.L. Brown High School, Class of 1979. Mrs. Buckwell previously taught school at Fred L. Wilson Elementary for 18 years, also worked in the children's advocacy center at Northeast for 10 years, then worked at Christ the King Christian Academy for 15 years. Lea Ann loved her children and students, spending time at the beach, antiquing, cooking and baking for her friends and family, while taking care of her many German Shepherd companions throughout her life.

Mrs. Buckwell is survived by her husband, Randal "Randy" Bryant Buckwell; two children, Kristina Collins Amerson and Steven Asarese of Buffalo, NY and Jacob Nathaniel "Nate" Amerson and Cindy Kistler of N Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, John Gregory Collins and wife Suzanne of Westfield; and numerous other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Christ the King Christian Academy, 210 N Ferry Road, New London, NC 28127 or to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 205 S Main Street, Faith, NC 28041.
