Lewis Edward Russell

Mr. Lewis Edward Russell, 89, of 4329 Rainbow Drive, died Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. A graveside service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Rev. Darryl Baker & the Rev. Roger Head will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2to 3:45 p.m. Sunday at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. At other times, they will be at the residence. Mr. Russell was born November 11, 1918 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late William Columbus Russell and Janie McDaniel Russell. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Beulah Wright; a brother, Sam Russell; and a granddaughter, Dena Russell Earnhardt. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Helen Overcash Russell; two daughters, Margaret Gibson and husband, Ken of China Grove and Becky Farmer and husband, Larry of Kannapolis; son, Richard W. Russell and wife, Sally of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Debbie, Sherry, Susan, Jackie, Ricky, Bobby; 12 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
