Lida Cates Harrington

Mrs. Lida Cates Harrington, 91, of 107 Westover Avenue, Kannapolis, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at First Wesleyan Church in Kannapolis. Rev. Evan Nutter will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Harrington was born October 1, 1910 in Henderson, KY. She was a daughter of the late Carl Cates and Lucy Shouley Cates. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 4 in Kannapolis. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Boyd "Shorty" Harrington, on January 16, 1971. Mrs. Harrington is survived by her daughter, Joyce H. Ashby, of Kannapolis; three sons, Joe, David, and Kenneth Harrington, all of Kannapolis; two sisters, Beatrice Mull and Margaret Russell, both of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
