Linda Kay Owens Deaver

November 9, 1947 — April 6, 2023

Linda Kay Owens Deaver, born November 9, 1947 entered into the kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, April 6, 2023. Linda was well known in her community because of her dedication to her career as a teacher in Rowan County. Linda taught for 28 years with 25 of those years at West Rowan Middle School. Her love of the Lord transpired in her role as a teacher were she supported, nurtured, and encouraged the youth of Rowan County. Linda was recognized for her incredible gift in teaching with the 1996 Time Warner Cable Star Teacher award.

Linda was married to her beloved husband, Bill Deaver, for 52 years. Together they traveled all over America with their favorite trip being to Alaska. The beach was also a special place for them as it brought them so much joy.

Linda was an active member of First Baptist Church of China Grove were she served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. She was also part of a woman’s group were she often led the devotion.

Proceeding her in death are her parents, Paul and Beatrice Owens and her brother, Paul Owens Jr.

In addition to her beloved husband Bill Deaver of China Grove, Linda is survived by her sister Patricia Whitaker of Escondido, California; brothers-in-law, Kevin Deaver (Karen) of China Grove, and Rick Jackson of Salisbury; sister-in-law, Pat Owens of Myrtle Beach; six nieces and nephews as well as five great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Trent Drye and Rev. Steve Wilson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 pm Wednesday at Lady’s Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Christy Simon of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for her incredible care and service to Linda.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to First Baptist Church of China Grove, Oasis Fund, 302 Patterson Street, China Grove, NC 28023 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
