Linda Kay Shinn Barringer, 81, of Kannapolis, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 3:45 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Linda was born on October 31, 1940 to Luther and Lina Shinn in Kannapolis. She was a daughter of the late Luther Shinn and Lina Carter Shinn. She graduated from A. L. Brown High School in 1959. She graduated from North State Business College in 1960. Linda met Reid Barringer in that same year outside the Gem Theatre in Kannapolis and they wed on April 25 of 1964, going on to have two children, Beth and Ginger. Linda worked as a reading tutor at Charles B. Aycock Elementary and Jackson Park Elementary School for many years. She loved working with children. After retiring, Linda spent her time loving her grandchildren. Linda was an active member of Central Baptist Church for more than forty years. She especially enjoyed serving in Vacation Bible School.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Lucille Shinn Adams and Betty Sue Shinn Christy; and her brother, Gilbert Shinn.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Reid Barringer; her daughters, Elizabeth Wesley Barringer Bass and husband Lawrence Bradford Bass and Ginger Ree Barringer Fennell and husband Donald Henry Fennell Jr.; her sister, Valoree Elizabeth Shinn; and her grandchildren: Rachel Alexandra Bass, David Andrew Bass, Alexander Bradford Bass and Greta Isabella Fennell.
