Linda Childers Yates, 69, of 320 Neel Road, Salisbury, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home. Born January 4, 1941 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late James Homer Childers and Martha Barnett Childers. Linda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She spent her life loving her family and putting them first above all else. She worked many years at Cannon Mills and later retired from Terry Products. She then became a full-time grandmother and enjoyed every second of it. Our loss is truly Heaven's gain! In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty C. Hooper and Orene C. Jordan. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Moore and husband, Michael, of Salisbury; three sons, Jerry Yates and wife, Leanne and Chris Yates and wife, Crystal, all of Salisbury, Joe Yates and wife, Christy, of Concord; 11 grandchildren, Nicole Tallent, Matt Tallent, Jerrica Livengood, Justin Furr, Talas Furr, Magen Purvis, Lauren Yates, Kristen Yates, Katie Yates, Alexander Yates and Sabrina Yates; two great-grandchildren, Alyson Marie Abernathy and Caelyn Layne Abernathy; six sisters, Geraldine Prevette, Susie Sloop, Maxine Rushing, Joyce Storm and Sally Shaw, all five of Kannapolis; and Debbie Lambert of China Grove.
