Mr. Lon Max Landreth, 80, of Concord, passed away at 3:17 pm Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Mr. Landreth was born March 15, 1937 in Piney Creek. He was the youngest child of the late James Lonnie Landreth and Lula Irwin Landreth. Max graduated from Piney Creek High School in 1954 and Appalachian State Teachers College in 1958. He served two years in the US Army with the 39th Military Police Department in the Criminal Investigation Division at Ft. Meade, MD. Max was employed by Northwestern Bank in Taylorsville, Maiden, Winston-Salem and North Wilkesboro from 1958 until 1985. He then worked with First Union National Bank in Charlotte until 1995 where he retired as Vice President and Trust Officer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, James Maynard Landreth, John Basil Landreth and Bayne Irwin Landreth, all formerly of Sparta.
Mr. Landreth is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise Dixie Landreth; son, Stephen James “Steve” Landreth and wife Franca; three grandsons, Chase, Caleb and Colby Landreth of Kannapolis; brother, Bill Landreth of Dixon, TN; sister, Laurene Warden of DE; sister in-law, Lois Reeves Landreth of Sparta; and special friends, Bobbie Brown of Windsor, Jan Trevillian of Elizabeth City, Chuck Mills of Concord, and Joe and Rose Rhea of Windsor.
The family would like to send many thanks to the Tucker Hospice House. Max received the best of care during his illness. They would especially like to thank Kelly Campbell, who was the home hospice nurse that provided much care and love for him prior to his death.
