Mrs. Lorene Johnson Childers, 87, a resident of Prince George Nursing Home in Georgetown and formerly of Myrtle Beach, and Kannapolis, NC, died Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Latter Day Saints Cemetery in North Wilkesboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born November 5, 1919, in North Wilkesboro, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Johnson and Esther Ball Johnson. She retired after 20 years of service from the sewing room of Cannon Mills in Kannapolis. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kannapolis, and attended faithfully until moving to Myrtle Beach in 1992, where she attended the Latter Day Saints Church until moving to Prince George Nursing Home in 2005. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Odell Childers, who died September 13, 1994. Survivors include her son, Charles Wayne Childers and wife, Lou, of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Arrie Laney of Harrisburg, NC; three grandchildren, Carmen Howard and husband, Kirk, of Concord, NC, Tia Rene Hallford and Chuck Childers, both of Myrtle Beach; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Hallford, Joe Wray and Steve Wray, all of Myrtle Beach, Chuckie Childers of China Grove, NC and Ashton Howard of Concord, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
