Lorene Weast Hooper

Mrs. Lorene Weast Hooper, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at CHS-NorthEast in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2018, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Zachary Sizemore will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hooper was born June 3, 1939 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late James Deck Weast and Florence Honeycutt Weast. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 where she was a weaver. She was a member of Sloan Lake Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Nolan Hooper; son, Johnny William Wilkerson, Jr.; two brothers, James Weast and Carl Weast; and a great granddaughter.

Mrs. Hooper is survived by three children, Darrell Hooper and wife Barbara of Salisbury, Kelvin Wilkerson, Sr. and wife Ellen of Kannapolis and Cindy W. Eckrote and husband Lamont of Rockwell; a brother, Howard C. Weast and wife Janie of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Johnny Wilkerson, III of Kannapolis, Ronnie Wilkerson of Hickory, Stacey Ennis of Rockwell, Amy Jackson and husband Cliff of Rockwell and Kelvin Wilkerson, Jr. and wife Renee of China Grove; and nine great grandchildren.
