Mrs. Louise Poteat Starnes, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at her home in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, December 11, 2020, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Craig Allen will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service.
Mrs. Starnes was born February 2, 1926 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Hubert Lee Poteat and Hallie Louise Phillips Poteat. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Louise was a very good Seamstress, and was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed doing cross-stitch. Her first job was at Efird's Department Store on South Main Street in Kannapolis. She retired from the towel department, at Cannon Mills Company, after 40 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Starnes; and a sister, Ruby Chambers.
Mrs. Starnes is survived by her husband, Braxton L. Starnes, Jr.; one daughter, Amy Starnes Gentle of Kannapolis; one sister, Earline Snipes of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Meredith Gentle Giacommazzo and husband Mario, Matthew Gentle and fiancée Savannah, Leah Starnes, and Lathan Starnes. She is also survived by a daughter in law, Lou Starnes.
