Mrs. Louretta Williams Cook, 89, of 110 Trade Avenue, Kannapolis, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center after four years of declining health and eighteen months of serious illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Stephen Burrow will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mrs. Cook. Mrs. Cook was born March 27, 1914 in Union County, NC. She was a daughter of the late John Caldwell Williams and Lydia Josephine Little Williams. She retired from the washcloth department of Cannon Mills Plant One in 1976. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Enochville, where she played the piano for the Sunday School and was also a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stanley Cook, in 1981, a daughter, Brenda Suretta Cook, in 1960, and a grandson, Darren. Mrs. Cook is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Juanita) McDaniel of Salisbury, Mrs. Grady (Joanna) St. John of Shalotte, NC, Mrs. Dennis (Lydia) Ritchie of China Grove; son, John L. Cook of Shalotte, NC; sister, Hazel Lambert of Kannapolis; brother, Ralph Williams of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren, Ricky St. John, Della Connell, Jill St. John, Derek McDaniel, Tamisha Ritchie, John L. Cook, II, Brian Ritchie, Amanda Cook; five great grandchildren, Brandi, Christie, Clinton, Maria, Jesse; one great-great grandchild, Mykayla.
