Mabel Bernice Sikes

Mrs. Mabel Bernice Ballard Sikes, 84, a resident of Big Elm Nursing Center, and formerly of S. Main Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at the nursing facility. Graveside services with interment to follow will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Carolina Memorial Park. Dr. Tom Cabaniss will officiate. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service. Born October 31, 1922, in Richmond County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar T. Ballard and Bernice Green Ballard. She retired several years ago from Cannon Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the King's Daughters Sunday School Class. Her husband, William Leonard Sikes, preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include a sister Mary B. Ross of Kannapolis; and a number of nieces and nephews.
